Upon our request, Mr. Whitehead researched Chevron's files for any data, <br /> drawings, or associated paperwork regarding the exact location of the <br /> pipeline(s). ASE was contacted by Mr. Whitehead a short time later with <br /> information regarding the exact location of the former pipeline(s). ASE <br /> recommended collecting soil samples beneath the former pipeline(s) to <br /> investigate for the presence or absence of petroleum hydrocarbons as oil. Mr. <br /> Whitehead agreed to meet ASE at the site on the day of the investigation to <br /> locate the lines and to witness the excavation and soil sampling activities. <br /> 3.0 SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The scope of services provided by ASE included the following tasks: <br /> o Contacting Underground Service Alert (USA) to have all public utilities <br /> located; <br /> o Drilling a hand-augered soil boring through the backfill material of the <br /> former UST and collecting a soil sample; <br /> o Excavating eight (8) shallow test pits along the former Chevron <br /> pipelines) and collecting soil samples; <br /> o Backfilling the test pits and soil boring; <br /> s, o Analyzing the soil samples at a CAL-EPA certified laboratory; <br /> o Preparing a report detailing the methods and findings of the <br /> investigation. <br /> 4.0 PERMITS <br /> --� No permits were necessary for the scope of work provided by ASE. <br /> 5.0 MOBILIZATION <br /> ASE project engineer, David Allen, and project geologist Robert Kitay mobilized <br /> for on-site activities on May 9, 1995. Also at the site were Mr. Larry <br /> Whitehead and one other Chevron representative, and Mr. Brad Norgard of TBI, <br /> the excavation contractor. All field work was conducted by personnel trained <br /> and licensed to assess and handle hazardous materials. Prior to any actual field <br /> activities, the Chevron representatives identified and marked the location of <br /> the former pipelines. The test pit locations were marked on 100-foot centers <br /> J along Schulte Road, and excavation activities began. <br /> 6.0 PIPELINE TEST PITS <br /> After the location and orientation of the former Chevron pipelines were <br /> marked by the Chevron representative, a shallow test pit .was excavated <br /> Schulte and Chrisman Road, Tracy CA - May 1995 (ASE #2857) <br /> -2- <br />
