Mr V.-V aqua scierte
a 0"M I MEW = Im
engineers Inc.
December 31, 1997 PAYMENT
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
Environmental Health Division JAN 0 2 1998
304 East Weber Avenue
SAN JUAQUIN CUJN.V
Stockton, CA 95202 wBUC HEALTH SERVICES
ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DIVISION
ATTENTION: Mr. Steven Sasson
SUBJECT: Soil Boring Permit Application
7750 Schulte Road
Tracy, California
Dear Mr. Sasson:
Please accept this letter and attached application with fee to obtain a
boring permit for a hand-augered soil boring that was drilled in May of
1995 without obtaining a permit from your agency. Aqua Science
Engineers, Inc. (ASE) had thought that a non-agency directed, shallow,
hand-augered soil boring did not require such a permit. When we were
made aware of our mistake, via a telephone conversation from an engineer
in your office, we were told that we would be hearing from your agency
soon thereafter. Since that time, we have heard nothing. At this point i n
time, ASE would like to pay the penalty and permit fee and secure this
boring permit as you and I discussed in a recent telephone conversation.
SITE HISTORY
Aqua Science Engineers, Inc. (ASE) was contracted in May 1995 to drill a
hand-augered soil boring at the subject site (Figure 1) to assess the
subsurface soil beneath a former farm diesel underground storage tank
(UST). This work was performed as part of a potential property
transfer/sale. This work was not ordered by any regulatory agency. The
former UST was brought to attention to ASE during an interview with the
property owner, in which it is was stated to ASE that the 150 gallon
(estimated) UST was removed several years ago by her deceased husband
and a personal friend of his. In order to assess the subsurface soil
conditions related to this former UST, ASE was retained to drill a hand-
augered soil boring and collect a sample (Figure 2).
On May 9, 1995, a soil sample was collected from a hand-augered soil
boring in the location pointed out by the property owner as the location of
2411 Old Crow Canyon Road, Suite 4,San Ramon,.CA 94583 • 510-820-9391 • Fax 510-837-4853
