100 Pine Street. 1 Oth Floor
San Francisco, CA 94111
C415) 434-9400 • FAX 0415) 434-1365 GEOMATRIX
24 October 1997
Project No. 4097.01
Mr. Mike Infurna
San Joaquin County Public Health Services
304 E. Weber Street, 3rd Floor
Stockton, California 95202
Subject: Destruction of Well TW-1
Hanson Property
7750 Schulte Rd.
Tracy, California 95736
Dear Mr. Infurna:
This well destruction plan has been prepared on behalf of Chevron Pipe Line Company(CPL),
in response to your 10 October 1997 letter to CPL.. In your letter, you stated that "...further
investigation at the north end of the parcel is not warranted," and that the"monitoring well
currently onsite will need to be destroyed."
CPL intends to destroy this monitoring well, identified as TW-1, at the Hanson Property on
Friday, 31 October 1997, in accordance with San Joaquin County standards and under permit
from your office. Destruction will be accomplished by overdrilling the casing and annular fill
materials with 8-1/4-inch diameter augers (the same diameter used during well installation) to
1 foot below the base of the borehole, pulling the casing from the ground, and filling the
borehole with cement grout to within 3 feet of the ground surface. The upper 3 feet of the
borehole will be filled with native soil. Horizontal location of TW-1 will be confirmed in the
field by measuring distances to the well from a known point. Well destruction services will be
provided by HEW Drilling Company of Palo Alto, California.
We look forward to your approval of this work plan and of the well destruction permit at your
earliest opportunity. Please call either of the undersigned if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
GEOMATRIX CONSULTANTS, INC.
Maria C. Ledesma Martin B.
