Item No. 2
PC: 4-9-92
GP-89-11
Page 15
source control programs that require action by the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District.
NOISE:
Major noise sources in the vicinity of the project are, and will be, vehicular traffic on 1-205, Byron Road,
Patterson Pass Road, Grant Line Road, and trains on the Southern Pacific track, adjacent to Byron Road.
As a result of noise modeling based on the anticipated traffic levels, noise levels would exceed an Ldn
of 65 dB within 2,100 feet of Interstate 205 (a 65 dB level is the maximum outdoor noise level allowed in
the Draft General Plan for residential development). Noise levels would exceed an Ldn of 65 dB within
370 feet of Byron Road and Patterson Pass Road. Thus, the siting of residential or other noise sensitive
land uses adjacent to 1-205 should be avoided, as discussed above in the Visual Quality discussion.
Future residences should be located outside the 65 Ldn freeway noise contour. The Specific Plan should
site buildings to minimize noise conflicts, and the 65 dB contour should be detailed on the diagram of
each Specific Plan.
