Introduction to Handling Hazardous Materials (HHM) Program SAF 09-65 Handling Hazardous Ma- <br /> • Conducting inspections of the hazardous waste storage areas <br /> • Training. <br /> ■ State-by-State Instructions identifies changes and/or additions to the HHM <br /> Program that you must implement due to state specific laws and regulations. <br /> ■ Forms contains blank forms that are needed in order to implement the HHM <br /> Program. <br /> In addition to the HHM Program Binder,'an HHM Records Binder must be <br /> maintained at each location for filing of completed forms and paperwork as well <br /> as regulatory required information(see the section below for more detail). <br /> Record keeping in Upon their completion,the following forms must be stored in the appropriate <br /> the HHM Records section of the HHM Records Binder: <br /> Binder <br /> ■ Inspection forms-Daily Hazardous Waste Area Inspection Form <br /> ■ Hazardous Waste Inventory Logs <br /> ■ Hazardous Waste Manifests and other shipping documents (such as,Land <br /> Disposal Restriction Notifications)from each waste pick-up <br /> Additionally,the following documents must be stored in the appropriate section <br /> of the HHM Records Binder: <br /> ■ Hazardous Waste Generator Permit <br /> ■ Hazardous Materials Business Plans,where required <br /> Some laws require that certain documents be retained for a specified period of <br /> time.Administrative SOP ADM 08-05, Record Retention,specifies how long <br /> documents must be retained before sending off-site.For the HHM Program,this <br /> means that: <br /> ■ Hazardous Waste Manifests and other shipping documents (such as,Land <br /> Disposal Restriction Notifications)must be retained for three years or the <br /> period specified in Administrative SOP ADM 08-05,Record Retention, <br /> whichever is longer, and then send off-site. (use Record Code LOG 200) <br /> ■ Inspection Forms- Daily Hazardous Waste Area Inspection Forms must be <br /> retained for one year or the period specified in Administrative SOP ADM 08- <br /> 05, Record Retention,whichever is longer, and then send off-site. (use Record <br /> Code ENV 100) <br /> ■ Hazardous Waste Inventory Logs must be retained for one year or the period <br /> specified in Administrative SOP ADM 08-05,Record Retention,whichever is <br /> longer, and then send off-site.
