01 0 <br /> Receiving Department/Central Storage Area (D-93) SAF 09-65 Handling Hazardous Materials <br /> Receiving Department/Central Storage Area (D-93) <br /> Overview Every The Home Depot facility must designate a location in Receiving (D-93) <br /> within a 99-inch racking bay to be used exclusively for hazardous waste storage. <br /> If space at your facility is limited or is less than 99 inches, please contact your <br /> DAPM for assistance with alternative setup standards. <br /> Waste collected in All waste from spills and regularly generated waste from department processes <br /> the central storage must be brought to and stored in the central storage area. <br /> area <br /> Primary RTV Associates are responsible for proper completion of the HHM tasks <br /> responsibility for outlined below,with the assistance of the designated HHM associates. <br /> compliance <br /> Central storage area The minimum requirements for the bay are as follows: <br /> setup requirements ® The bay must be protected from traffic and must not be blocked by freight. <br /> ■ The bay and a walkway (at least 36 inches wide) must be clearly marked and <br /> painted. <br /> ■ A red flammable cabinet(for storing black waste buckets that contain <br /> ignitable hazardous waste),marked with the words"Flammable' must be <br /> present for storing ignitable hazardous waste. At no time shall any other <br /> waste or materials be placed in the red flammable cabinet. <br /> ■ A red and yellow zone for storing both red waste buckets (containing toxic or <br /> reactive hazardous waste) and yellow waste buckets (containing non- <br /> hazardous wastes) must be designated on one side of the red flammable <br /> cabinet. <br /> ■ A Black Zone for storing black waste buckets (containing corrosive hazardous <br /> waste) must be designated on the other side of the red flammable cabinet <br /> opposite the red and yellow zones. <br /> ■ A 30-gallon drum (for storing fertilizer waste) stored in the red/yellow zone <br /> and labeled as"Fertilizer Sweepings Only." <br /> ■ A 30-gallon drum (for storing waste paint rags) stored in the Black Zone and <br /> labeled as"Paint Rags Only." <br /> ■ A 30-gallon drum (for storing non-leaking aerosol cans)stored in the black <br /> zone and, labeled as"Non-Leaking Aerosol Cans." <br /> ■ The following signs and documents must be displayed in visible locations on <br /> the outside of the red flammable cabinet: <br /> • Flammables <br /> • No Smoking <br /> • Emergency Contact List <br /> • Evacuation Map <br /> • "Hazardous Waste Storage Area" sign SI-120 <br /> 38 Revised: 12 January 2007 <br />
