Procedures for Waste Labeling SAF 09-65 Handling Hazardous Materials <br /> Procedures for Waste Labeling <br /> Overview At the time of waste generation,all waste containers must be labeled <br /> appropriately and completely,including the following: <br /> ■ Buckets and drums that hold spills <br /> ■ Buckets and drums that hold fertilizer sweepings <br /> ■ Red waste cans that hold paint rags and sticks in the Paint Department <br /> ■ Red waste cans that hold oily rags and debris in the Plumbing Department <br /> ■ Waste oil drum in the TRC <br /> ■ Gas caddy in the TRC <br /> To label universal waste containers,see instructions in the Procedures for <br /> Collecting Universal Waste section of this binder. <br /> Procedures for Only designated HHM associates are authorized to label waste containers.With <br /> labeling the exception of universal waste,3E will fax a label for all containers (spills or <br /> regularly generated waste). <br /> If a fax is unavailable (and for universal waste),3E will provide instructions on <br /> completing a label manually.To obtain or complete a label,the designated <br /> HHM associate must call 3E and provide 3E with information about the contents <br /> of the container(see"Procedure for Classifying or Naming a Waste" on page <br /> 43).Depending on the contents of the container,3E will fax a completed label to <br /> the store. <br /> If the fax machine is unavailable for any reason,obtain a blank label from the <br /> central storage area and fill in all of the identified fields following 3E's <br /> instruction using one of the following two labels: <br /> ■ Hazardous Waste label SI-750,shown below <br /> ■ Non-Hazardous Waste label SI-751,shown below <br /> µ. r 4W AF Ar Aff AV A <br /> r AV AV Ar AV Ar d <br /> ui9.W&u"i1P'Alk"lE1GU'W°M+'�::`LLpl°8L1Sdi19itb1 ixs o.w�.W. a'rdm..a.i.. <br /> I�N'iair6.b.. f`vbw44 ';'. <br /> ,.. <br /> 52 Revised:12 January 2007 <br />
