M N <br />1.0 POLICY STATEMENT <br />Hazardous chemicals will be used, handled and stored in compliance to applicable <br />regulations/standards. All employees who use or handle hazardous chemicals will <br />be trained on proper handling procedures, container labeling methods, material <br />safety data sheet requirements and spill reporting requirements prior to their initial <br />exposure to the chemicals. <br />It is the responsibility of the Operations, Transportation and Fleet Maintenance <br />Management Group to ensure that the proper information is obtained and <br />disseminated to the appropriate employees. It will be the employee's responsibility <br />to follow safe practices as outlined in the Material Safety Data Sheets or operating <br />procedures. <br />The effectiveness of the Hazardous Chemical Safety Program, as with our Safety <br />Management Plan, depends upon the active support and involvement of all <br />employees. <br />9EIROAMERM <br />Article - A manufactured item other than a fluid or particle: Which is formed to a <br />specific shape or design during manufacture, has end use functions dependent upon <br />its shape or design during end use, under normal conditions of use does not release <br />more than trace amounts of a hazardous chemical, and does not pose a physical <br />hazard or health hazard to employees. <br />Hazardous Chemical - Any chemical that has a physical or health hazard <br />Hazard Warning - Any words, pictures, symbols, or combination appearing on a <br />label or other appropriate form of warning which convey the specific physical and <br />health hazards, including target organ effects, of the chemical. <br />Identity - Any chemical or common name that is indicated on the material safety <br />data sheet (MSDS) for the chemical. The identity must be consistent on the list of <br />hazardous chemicals, the label, and the MSDS. <br />Label - Any written, printed, or graphic material displayed on or affixed to containers <br />of hazardous chemicals. <br />MSDS - MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) is written or printed material concerning <br />a hazardous chemical supplied by the manufacturer or importer of the chemical. <br />Non -Routine Tasks - Tasks in which employees do not normally perform in the <br />course of their work and may be exposed to hazardous chemicals. <br />Obsolete MSDS - An MSDS for a substance that was use, handled, or stored in the <br />facility; however, is no longer present in the facility, currently or in the future. <br />mrawrin-�raa+uEch <br />3 <br />
