Metal fines generated from brake rotor surfacing are being recycled as scrap metal without first <br />determining particle size or hazardous properties. Any person who generates a waste shall determine if <br />the waste is a hazardous waste. Immediately stop recycling metal fines, make a hazardous waste <br />determination for the brake rotor shavings, and manage it according the Title 22 hazardous waste <br />regulations. Particles 100 microns or smaller must be handled as hazardous waste if the metal is <br />determined to be a hazardous waste. Submit a statement and supporting documentation explaining how <br />this waste was managed by December 4, 2010. <br />7. A parts washer uses Ozzy Juice and an Ozzy Mat filter. The Ozzy Mat filter is placed in the regular <br />trash when it is too clogged to be used in the parts washer. Any person who generates a waste shall <br />determine if the waste is a hazardous waste. Immediately stop disposing of the Ozzy Mat filter in the <br />trash, make a hazardous waste determination on the Ozzy Mat filter, and manage it according the Title <br />22 hazardous waste regulations. Submit a statement and supporting documentation explaining how this <br />waste was managed by December 4, 2010. <br />20. The waste brake fluid, waste oily water and waste coolant containers were labeled "Hazardous <br />Waste" only. No other labeling was legible. All hazardous waste containers shall be marked with the <br />following information: <br />1. the words "Hazardous Waste" <br />2. name and address of generator <br />3. hazardous properties <br />4. physical state <br />5. composition (contents) <br />6. accumulation start date <br />Immediately label these containers and ensure that all containers are marked with all the required <br />information. Since it cannot be determined how long the containers listed above have been on site, <br />immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under manifest and <br />submit a copy of the manifest to the EHD by December 4, 2010. <br />32. The facility does not have a hazardous waste tank assessment document for the waste oil tank. <br />Send a copy of the tank assessment to the EHD by December 4, 2010 or send a statement to the EHD <br />explaining when the tank assessment will be done by December 4, 2010. <br />ALL EHD STAFF TIME ASSOCIATED WITH FAILING TO COMPLY BY THE ABOVE NOTED DATES WILL BE BILLED AT THE CURRENT HOURLY RATE ($122). <br />THIS FACILITY IS SUBJECT TO REINSPECTION AT ANY TIME AT EHD'S CURRENT HOURLY RATE. <br />EHD I or: <br />&J-&, <br />Receiv <br />ZA,� <br />N,, <br />Title: M <br />I Kow <br />EHD 23443 Rev 08/10/10 �� CONTINUATION FORM <br />
