Environmental management is an important compliance issue for all
retail stores. Store Managers must be familiar with these state specific requirements to ensure
that their stores remain in compliance.
In Scope:
• Proper management of waste in the State of California.
• State specific accumulation requirements for California.
• Recordkeeping requirements specific to the State of California.
• Self inspection requirements specific to the State of California.
• California specific training requirements.
Out of Scope:
Federal environmental requirements.
• Local environmental ordinances.
SEP 1 5 2015
• Container — Approved device to hold hazardous materials or hazardous waste (i.e. drums, tanks, used oil
dollies).
• Empty— Container where all wastes have been removed using common practices to remove materials (i.e.
pouring, pumping, aspirating) and less than 1" of non -pourable material remains.
• Label —Self adhesive marking with blank fields for federal or state required information.
• Start Accumulation Date— Date waste was first added to an individual container.
• Accumulation —Consolidation and storage of waste in a container.
