Bridgestone Retail Operationsq LLC
333 E. Lake Street - Bloomingdale, IL. - 60,108
Bridgestone Retail Operations, LLC (BSRO) periodically samples the metal shavings generated by
the service of automobile brakes (i.e., grinding) to verify the hazardous characteristics of the
waste so that the appropriate method of disposal is employed at BSRO's retail facilities.
The attached information provides summaries of analytical data and corresponding laboratory
analytical reports from brake grindings collected from four stores in California. Each individual
sample was analyzed for Total Threshold Limit Concentration (TTLC), Soluble Threshold Limit
Concentration (STLC), Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP) and particle size use
method ASTM D422/D4464M according to the methods in the California Code of Regulations,
Title 22, Chapter 11, and Article 3.
Table 1 provides a summary from samples collected on January 18, 2008, from three Firestone
Complete Auto Care Centers located in the cities of Santee, San Diego, and Kearney Mesa,
California (San Diego County). Table 2 provides a summary from samples collected on February
9, 2010, from one Firestone Complete Auto Care Center located at 10407 Folsom Blvd in
Rancho Cordova, California (Sacramento County).
The analytical data demonstrate that the metal shavings generated during brake grinding from
each store passed the TTLC, TCLP and STLC tests and therefore are classified as non -hazardous.
Attachments:
Table 1.
