C 2.8 Hazardous Characteristics of the Waste(s) that have been or will be Handled The waste material observed to be handled by the tank system is used oil from vehicle servicing. According to Mr. Mark Myers, the Store Manager, used oil is the only material the tank received. 2.9 Initial Tank Installation Certification Prior to placing a new tank system or component in use, an independent, qualified installation inspector or an independent, qualified professional engineer (registered in California), either of whom is trained and experienced in the proper installation of tank systems, shall inspect the system or component for the presence of any of the following items and document in writing the results of the inspection. According to the attached email correspondence, the tank system manufacturer did not perform an initial installation inspection or certification. The facility had no records documenting the initial inspection and as of the date of this report, Apex was unable to identify any documentation of an initial tank installation certification. 2.9.1 Weld Cracks or Breaks No weld cracks or breaks were observed. 2.9.2 Scrapes of Protective Coatings The protective enamel coating of the tank appears in overall fair to good condition with only minor scraping and surface wearing observed. 2.9.3 Corrosion No corrosion was observed at the visible side walls of the tank. Photographs taken of the underside of the tank indicate that there may be some minor corrosion present. As such, Apex recommends monitoring the tank for any spills that may occur from the underside. 2.9.4 Structural Damage or Inadequate Construction or Installation Structural damage or inadequate construction or installation includes items such as cracks, punctures, and damaged fittings.
