Setting Up the Hazardous Waste Collection Area, Continued
Collection Once you have built separate StrongPak containers for each area of the
Areas store and category of waste, you can place the containers in the areas
indicated below.
STORE — For Front Store waste, the StrongPak set of 6 containers
(Flammables, Flammable Aerosols, and Combustibles; Corrosive Acids;
Corrosive Bases; Oxidizers; Toxics & State Regulated Wastes; and Universal
Wastes) containers should be kept in the area of the backroom that was
designated as the hazardous waste collection area.
Important: You must keep different categories of hazardous waste items
separated when storing waste at your store.
PHOTO — For wet photo lab waste, the StrongPak "Toxic Photo Waste"
container should be kept in the Photo lab. If there are space limitations, the
container can be kept with the StrongPak Front Store waste in the backroom.
PHARMACY — The StrongPak "Toxic Pharmaceuticals" container should be
kept in the Pharmacy at all times, including when full.
Managing the StrongPak containers must be properly labeled with the date, store #, and
StrongPak address. The date must be filled in when attaching the label to the container.
Containers
The "physical state" (liquid, solid, or aerosol) must be checked on each label
upon adding waste to the container. In addition, the checkbox next to the
item type in the list of "contents" must also be checked to reflect the contents
of each container. Use the "other" line if necessary.
StrongPak containers must be stored in such a way that the label is visible
and the container can be easily inspected for leaks or damage. The
containers must also be accessible in an emergency.
NOTE: StrongPak containers may be stacked.
Continued on next page
© CVS/pharmacy 19
CONFIDENTIAL BUSINESS INFORMATION
CVS000010380
