Photo Waste Handling, Continued <br />Leaking / If you have a photo chemical spill, the spilled chemical and all spill clean-up <br />Spilled Photo materials must be handled properly. These materials must not be put in the <br />Processing trash or poured down the drain. Only colleagues that have completed this <br />Chemicals training are authorized to clean up spills in the Photo lab. <br />All leaking or spilled photo chemicals must be bagged IMMEDIATELY by <br />following the process below. <br />e <br />Actic�n <br />Water <br />Collect all spilled materials with absorbent and/or paper towels <br />1 <br />and place everything into a StrongPak self-sealing bag <br />(including the leaking container, if applicable). <br />Add absorbent or paper towels to the bag as necessary to <br />ensure there are no free liquids (no free liquids can ever be <br />2 <br />placed in the StrongPak container). All contaminated spill <br />Use Camera <br />cleanup materials that cannot be reused must be collected with <br />Bodies <br />the spill, including carpet tiles. <br />3 <br />Seal the bag completely. <br />4 <br />Place the sealed bag into a second StrongPak self-sealing bag. <br />5 <br />Seal the second bag completely. <br />6 <br />Write the name of the spilled photo chemical on the bag with a <br />permanent marker. <br />7 <br />Place bag in the StrongPak "PHOTO" container. <br />NOTE: Always wear gloves, goggles and apron when handling leaking or <br />spilled photo chemicals. If you are unsure of what safety/protective <br />equipment to wear in special circumstances, contact the CVS Safety Hotline <br />at 888-464-2960. <br />Photo Rinse <br />Rinse water that may contain photo processing chemicals as a result of <br />Water <br />cleaning photo equipment parts (e.g., crossover covers or racks) must be <br />captured in a bucket or tray and disposed of in the PSC haul drum if the store <br />is a haul store, or treated through the SRU if the store is a discharge store. <br />The rinse water must not be disposed of directly down any drains; therefore <br />no rinsing may occur in any sinks without capturing the rinse water. <br />One -Time <br />One-time use camera bodies should continue to be returned to Kodak using <br />Use Camera <br />the collection boxes provided by Kodak.
