0 0
1 .0 INTRODUCTION
Pacific Excavators has prepared this final report to document the
removal of four underground storage tanks at the RMC Lonestar facility
located in Tracy, California (Figure 1: Site Location Map). One 10,000
gallon diesel, one 500 gallon waste oil one 1,000 gallon gasoline and one
1,000 gallon diesel underground storage tanks were removed from the
property (Figure 2: Site & Sample Location Plan).
Pacific Excavators was contracted by RMC Lonestar, Inc. in order to
expose the tanks, remove and dispose of the tanks, and contract a third
party to collect soil samples for laboratory analyses.
2.0
ITS
Pacific Excavators obtained permits and plans necessary to remove the
tanks. The excavation areas were marked and the property owner and
operator were notified of the specific time plan. An inspector from the
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Division and from the San
Joaquin County Rural County Fire Department were on site to oversee the
tank removal activities. A copy of the Application and Permit to Close
Underground Tanks and Rural County Fire permit is included in Appendix
A: Permits.
3.0 FIELD ACTIVITIES - TANK REMOVALS
On January 23, 1996, in area 1 (see Figure 2: Site &Sample Location Plan)
the ground cover was broken and the soil above the 10,000 gallon diesel
and 550 gallon waste oil tanks were excavated and stockpiled separately
on a concrete surface and covered with plastic. One stockpile consisted
of the soil excavated from the diesel tank excavation. The second
stockpile consisted of the soil excavated from the waste oil tank.
In area 2 (See Figure 2: Site &Sample Location Plan) the ground cover
was removed and the soil above the 1,000 gallon gasoline tank was
excavated and stockpiled onto plastic. During excavation of the 1,000
gallon gasoline tank a 1,000 gallon diesel tank was discovered.
1
