PRODUCED AT GOVERNMENT EXPENSE <br />2.1.1 Field Inspections and Tests by the Contractor: The Contractor shall <br />furnish all equipment, instruments, qualified personnel and facilities <br />necessary to inspect all work and perform all tests required by the contract. <br />All inspections and tests performed and test results received each day shall <br />be included in the Daily Report to the Inspector. <br />2.1.1.1 Inspection Procedures: Inspection procedures shall include, as a <br />minimum: <br />a. Preparatory Inspections: Preparatory inspection shall be performed <br />before beginning work and, in addition, before beginning each segment of <br />work. Preparatory inspection shall include a review of the contract <br />requirements, the review and approval of shop drawings and other submittal <br />data, a check to assure that required control testing will be provided, a <br />physical examination to assure that all materials and equipment conform to <br />approved shop drawings and submittal data, and a check to assure all required <br />preliminary work has been completed. The Contracting Officer shall be <br />notified at least 24 hours in advance of the preparatory inspection. <br />b. Initial Inspection: Initial inspection shall be performed as soon as <br />a representative segment of the particular item of work has been <br />accomplished. Initial inspection shall include performance of scheduled <br />tests, examination of the quality of workmanship, a review for omissions or <br />dimensional errors, and approval or rejection of the initial segment of the <br />work. The Contracting Officer shall be notified at least 24 hours in advance <br />of the initial inspection. <br />c. Follow -Up Inspections: Follow-up inspections shall be performed daily <br />and more frequently as necessary, and shall include continued testing and <br />examinations to assure continued compliance with the contract requirements. <br />2.1.2 Field Inspections and Tests by the Government: If deemed necessary by <br />the Contracting Officer, field inspections and tests will be made in <br />accordance with the Contract Clause entitled, "Inspection Of Construction." <br />2.1.3 Approval of Testing Laboratories: All laboratory work under this <br />contract shall be performed by a laboratory approved by the Government, <br />whether the laboratory is employed by the Contractor, or is owned and <br />operated by the Contractor. The basis of approval includes the following: <br />a. Testing laboratories performing work in connection with concrete, <br />steel, and bituminous materials shall comply with ASTM E 329 and <br />ASTM D 3666, respectively. <br />b. Testing laboratories engaged in the testing and inspection of <br />soils and rock or performing non-destructive testing shall comply <br />with ASTM D 3740 and ASTM E 543, respectively. <br />c. Testing laboratories performing work not in connection with <br />concrete, steel, bituminous materials, soils and non-destructive <br />testing shall comply with ASTM E 548. <br />4 <br />� N <br />
