Where such use of attach ropes, cables, or guys is <br />authorized, the Contractor shall be responsible for any resultant damage. <br />2.1.1.1 Protection: Protect existing trees which are to remain and which <br />may be injured, bruised, defaced, or otherwise damaged by construction <br />operations. Remove displaced rocks from uncleared areas. By approved <br />excavation, remove trees with 30 percent or more of their root systems <br />destroyed. <br />2.1.1.2 Replacement: Remove trees and other landscape features scarred or <br />damaged by equipment operations, and replace with equivalent, undamaged trees <br />and landscape features. Obtain the Contracting Officer's approval before <br />replacement. <br />2.1.1.3 Temporary Construction: Remove traces of temporary construction <br />facilities such as haul roads, work areas, structures, foundations of <br />temporary structures, stockpiles of excess or waste materials and other signs <br />of construction. Grade temporary roads, parking areas and similar temporarily <br />used areas to conform with surrounding contours. <br />2.1.2 Water Resources: <br />2.1.2.1 Discharges: All discharges or spills to the ground, natural waters, <br />sewage systems, or other waters on NAVCOMMSTA Stockton shall comply with all <br />Government, California, and Local criteria, including the criteria of the <br />California Regional Water Quality Control Board, Region V, 3443 Routier Road, <br />Sacramento, CA, 95827-3098, telephone (916) 361-5600. Adjacent waters and <br />the fish and other wildlife in them are also considered to be water <br />resources. Prior authorization by the Contracting Officer is required for <br />any discharge to the ground or water or sewage systems at NAVCOMMSTA <br />Stockton. Sewage systems include the storm drainage system, the domestic <br />(sanitary) wastewater system, and the industrial wastewater system. <br />Discharge of portable toilets to the sanitary sewer will not be permitted. <br />2.1.2.2 Oily Wastes: Prevent oily or other hazardous substances from <br />entering the ground, drainage areas, or local bodies of water. Surround <br />temporary fuel oil or petroleum storage tanks with a temporary earth berm of <br />sufficient size and strength to contain the contents of the tanks in the <br />event of content leakage or spillage. <br />2.1.2.3 Reporting and Recovery of Unauthorized Discharges: Any spillage of <br />hazardous material or waste to the environment shall be immediately reported <br />to the Contracting Officer. Such reports shall be followed up in writing no <br />later than seven (7) days after the initial personal or telephonic report. <br />When reporting a spill the following information shall be furnished: <br />(a) Item spilled (identification, quantity, and manifest numbers). <br />(b) Whether amount spilled is EPA reportable, and, if reported, a copy of <br />the report. <br />
