REPRODUCED AT GOVERNMENI EXPENSE AM <br />11 <br />1.4.2.2 Verify the elevations of existing piping, utilities, and any type of <br />underground obstruction not indicated or specified to be removed and <br />indicated in locations to be traversed by excavations during the performance <br />of this contract. <br />1.4.3 Securing of Utilities: <br />1.4.3.1 Prior to the Contractor commencing work, he/she will determine what <br />utility systems will have to be secured to assure safe working conditions for <br />his/her employees and his/her subcontractor employees, and request the <br />Contracting Officer to have these utilities secured at least 1 week in <br />advance of the required outage. Opuo being notified that the systems have <br />been secured, the Contractor will be responsible for verifying thrt all <br />utilities which he/she has requested to be secured have, in fact, been <br />secured and are safe to work on or will not pose a hazard to employees <br />working in their proximity. <br />1.4.3.2 Government will secure utility services to the site prior Co start <br />of demolition~ as required by Contractor. Disconnections of utility services <br />and related meters and equipment shall be made by the Contractor after <br />obtaining approval from the Contracting Officer. Utilities Co adjacent <br />buildings or structures may pass through the demolition site. It is the <br />contractor's responsibility to keep these utilities active. One week advance <br />notice is required for the securing of utilities. <br />1.5 EXPLOSIVES: Use of explosives will not be permitted. <br />1.7 STATION PERMITS: Station permits will be obtained from Fire Protection, <br />Naval Communication Station Stockton for bot work; i.e. cutting or welding. <br />(See Section 01011, paragraph 2.6.2) <br />PART 2 - EXECUTION <br />2.1 EXISTING FACILITIES TO BE REMOVED: <br />2.1.1 Structures: Remove underground tanks as ordered by delivery orders. <br />2.1.1.1 Fuel Removal; All poaeibIa fuel will be pumped or otherwise removed <br />from the tank by the Contractor. Consider any remaining fuel and sludge as <br />hazardous waste; pump into 55 gaIIuo drums or other suitable containers. <br />Handle and dispose of the hazardous euat* as indicated in Section 01560, <br />paragraphs 2.5.1 and 2.5.2. Drums or tanks used for containerizing hazardous <br />waste will be furnished by the Contractor. <br />2.1.1.2 Pipe Removal: Excavate and expose all piping between tank and <br />adjacent buildings, structures.
