C <br />4.5.1.2 Liquids <br />Liquid waste may be generated from wetting techniques used to control dust generation <br />during work activities. The primary health risks associated with handling liquid wastes will be <br />the potential for exposure to benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene. Therefore, individuals <br />handling liquid wastes will comply with the personal protective equipment requirements <br />specified in this document. <br />4.5.2 Hazard Classification <br />4.5.2.1 Heat/Cold Stress <br />The adverse stress to the body due to exposure to severe heat can greatly diminish the <br />ability of the body to function properly. Therefore all personnel involved in work activities will <br />be monitored for heat stress disorders in accordance with the guidelines specified in this <br />document. Cold stress is not anticipated to be a problem during the course of this project <br />activity. <br />4.5.2.2 Corrosive <br />Corrosive wastes are not expected to be encountered on site. However, equipment <br />maintenance, or related operations, may require the use of corrosive materials. Skin irritation <br />and burns are typical symptoms when the body contacts an acidic or basic material. Therefore, <br />personnel involved in handling or using corrosives will follow stringent personal protective <br />equipment requirements identified in this document. <br />4.5.2.3 Ygnitability/Explosivity <br />The wastes from this project activity are not expected to be combustible or flammable. <br />However, individuals involved in maintenance of work equipment may encounter combustible or <br />14 <br />
