Workers will be encouraged to consume electrolyte <br />beverages during rest periods. <br />• Workers experiencing heat stress that is not relieved by rest period/work period <br />modifications will be removed immediately from field work and be required, if <br />conscious, to consume two to four pints of electrolyte fluid or cool water every hour <br />while resting in a shaded area. The individual should not return to work until <br />symptoms are no longer recognizable. If the symptoms appear critical, persist or get <br />worse, or if the individual's temperature is 102° F or above, immediate medical <br />attention at a hospital will be sought. <br />4.22 SPILL AND DISCHARGE CONTROL PLAN <br />The Spill and Discharge Control Plan has been developed to prevent the contamination of <br />soils, water, atmosphere, uncontaminated areas/surfaces, equipment or material by the <br />uncontrolled release of hazardous waste and materials involved in this project. <br />The following spill control equipment will be available in the event of a spill of liquid or <br />solid waste: <br />• Sand or other appropriate spill absorbent material <br />• Front-end loader <br />• 55 -gallon drums (DOT 17 E or 17H) <br />• Shovels <br />• Decontamination supplies and protective clothing <br />• Hand operated pump <br />Regardless of the type of spill (liquid or solid), the following measures will be taken to <br />isolate the spilled material(s): <br />• Isolate and contain the hazardous spill area <br />• Restrict access of unauthorized personnel <br />• Prevent contact with the spilled material <br />28 <br />
