• Relocate upwind and upgradient of the spilled material <br />• Take air, soil, or appropriate samples to determine if clean-up is complete <br />4.22.1 Solid Materials Spills <br />In the event of a spill or release of a solid, Geofon will remove and place contaminated <br />materials into a dry container with a cover. The container will be appropriately labeled and <br />disposed of as soon as possible. <br />4.22.2 Liquid Material Spills <br />Liquid spills will be adsorbed with sand or other appropriate absorbent material. The <br />absorbent material will be incorporated into the contaminated stockpiled soil. The final <br />disposition of the absorbent material will be determined in conjunction with the stockpiled soil. <br />In the event of a discharge of liquid into the soil, Geofon will immediately identify the <br />location of the discharge and take appropriate remedial actions to eliminate further spillage. The <br />discharged liquid material will be controlled and disposed of as described above. If a reported <br />discharge of any materials stored in drums, baker tanks, vacuum trucks, etc. occurs, the <br />following steps shall be followed: <br />• Notify the Contracting Officer and the Regional Water Quality Control Board <br />• Contain and eliminate the discharge (if not prevented by safety considerations) <br />• Remove/retrieve any discharged liquids (if not prevented by safety considerations) <br />• Isolate the spill area restricting access to unauthorized personnel <br />• Decontaminate the spill area, if necessary <br />• Prepare a spill report <br />The Spill Report will contain the following: <br />• Description of the material spilled including identity, quantity, and a copy -of the <br />waste manifest. Identify the cause of the spill. <br />• Exact time and location of the spill, and a description of the area involved. <br />29 <br />
