For petroleum hydrocarbon <br />contamination workers may use nitrile gloves. <br />• Disposable coveralls such as Tyvek or Saranex may be required depending on the <br />potential for body contact with chemical contaminants. <br />3. PHYSICAL HAZARDS ASSOCIATED WITH EXCAVATION INCLUDING CAVE-INS, <br />FALLS AND HEAVY EQUIPMENT. <br />• Refer to the Job Hazard Analysis for working around and in excavations. <br />• Workers must avoid entering excavation to collect samples, unless the excavation is <br />properly sloped or shored. Samples should be conducted from material removed by <br />excavator bucket. At no time shall workers enter excavations on the bucket of a backhoe <br />or on any other piece of equipment that is not designed to carry humans. <br />• Samples can be collected remotely using samplers with extended handles. <br />• Sampling should not be conducted while heavy equipment is operating in the immediate <br />area. <br />F. <br />
