LJ <br />1.0 INTRODUCTION <br />This closure report documents activities related to the removal of two 12,000 -gallon <br />underground storage tanks (USTs) at Building 330, at the Sharpe Site located in Lathrop, <br />California (Figure 1). Geofon, Inc. (Geofon) performed this work on behalf of the -United States <br />Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) under Contract No. DACW05-00-D-0008-0007. The scope <br />of work required the complete installation of a 2,000 -gallon aboveground storage tank (AST) <br />prior to excavation, cleaning and removal of two 12,000 -gallon USTs, flushing and removal of <br />associated piping and appurtenances, soil sampling, and backfilling of the excavation and <br />trenches at the subject site. The AST installation activity was completed on 3 May 2001. The <br />UST removal activity was performed on 11 June 2001, in accordance with San Joaquin County <br />Public Health Services, Environmental Health Division (San Joaquin County PHS-EHD) <br />requirements for permanent closure of underground hazardous substance storage tanks, and <br />Ir <br />USACE Scope of Work (SOW) contract requirements entitled "Remove 2 USTs and install I <br />AST, Building 330, DDJC-Sharpe, Lathrop, CA. " <br />
