CAMBRIA
hydrocarbons as diesel (TPHd) by EPA Method 8015M, total recoverable petroleum
hydrocarbons by EPA Method 418.1M, BTEX by EPA Method 826013, and polychlorinated
biphenyls (PCBs) by EPA Method 8082. The soil sample collected beneath the waste oil tank
was analyzed for TPHd by EPA Method 8015M, TPHg, BTEX, fuel oxygenates and chlorinated
hydrocarbons by EPA Method 8260B, PCBs by EPA Method 8082, and metals (chromium,
nickel,zinc, lead and cadmium)by EPA Method 6010B.
Water Chemical Analyses: The water samples collected from the fuel UST excavation were
labeled, placed into a cooler with ice, entered onto a chain of custody record, and transported to a
California-certified analytical laboratory. The water samples were analyzed for TPHg, BTEX,
and fuel oxygenates by EPA Method 8260B.
Soil Disposal: Soil generated during the waste oil tank, fuel USTs, dispensers, and product
piping removal was stored onsite and covered with plastic sheeting. The soil stockpiles were
sampled and profiled for disposal. The soil analytical report for the stockpile samples is
contained in Appendix A. On November 18 and 23, 2004, PSC Environmental Services Group
of Benecia, California (PSC) transported a total of 311.57 tons of soil and pea gravel to Allied
Waste Industries' Forward Landfill in Manteca, California for disposal. Disposal documentation
is included in Appendix B.
ANALYTICAL RESULTS
Soil Analytical
Soil analytical results are summarized in Table 1 and TPHg, benzene, and MTBE data are
presented on Figures 2, 3, and 4. The certified analytical report is included as Appendix A. A
summary of the data are presented below.
Fuel USTs: TPHg and benzene were detected in several soil samples collected beneath the fuel
USTs up to maximum concentrations of 2,000 and 0.88 parts per million (ppm), respectively.
MTBE and TBA were detected in soil samples collected beneath the fuel USTs at concentrations
up to 4.4 ppm and 4.2 ppm, respectively; no other fuel oxygenates were reported in soil samples
collected beneath the fuel USTs.
Product Piping: Except for 6.0 ppm TPHg detected in sample P-6, no TPHg or benzene was
detected in any of the soil samples collected beneath the product piping. MTBE and TBA were
detected in several soil samples collected beneath the product piping at concentrations up to
0.033 and 0.072 ppm, respectively; no other fuel oxygenates were reported in soil samples
collected beneath the product piping.
0783 3
