Being alert for possible sources of ignition (cigarette smokers, <br /> open flames, etc.) . <br /> C. Constantly vatching for erratic movements of the technician while <br /> he is in the tank. <br /> D. Assisting in feeding and pulling lifelines and air lines. <br /> E. Assisting the technician by passing tools, materials, etc. <br /> F. Maintaining visual or voice contact with the man in the tank. <br /> G. Putting on the safety harness before the technician enters the tank <br /> and use of lifelines. <br /> H. Use of SCBA, air horn, and fire extinguisher. <br /> I. Emergency procedure and telephone ars. <br /> The safety observer is to tell the technician (yell loudly, sound air horn) <br /> to exit tank if: <br /> A. The alarms ou the combustible gas and 02 meter go off. <br /> B. The compressor stops or something interrupts or restricts air <br /> supply to the technician. <br /> C. A source of ignition is close by. <br /> D. The movements of the technician indicate he is getting "drunk" or <br /> otherwise unstable. <br /> E. A fire breaks out in the tank or in the immediate area of the <br /> technician in the tank. <br />
