The plan will be prepared under the direction of the Corporate
Health and Safety Officer and will be implemented in the field by the Site Safety ,fficer.
Task 2: Drilling and Soil Sampling
One (1) boring will be drilled out using 10 -inch outside diameter (OD) hollow stem augers to a
maximuiri depth of approximately 20 feet bgs. One (1) slant boring will be advanced to
approximately 30 feet bgs. Samples collected from the boTings will be used to assess the
vertical and lateral impact in the soil. Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals
and/or where changes in lithoIogy are observed. Samples will be collected in 2 -inch diameter
by 6-i1ch long brass cylinders that have been decontaminmed, and the ends will be covered
with Teflon and capped with polyethylene caps. A TEM geologist, trained and supervised by
a registered geologist, will describe soil samples using the Unified Soil Classification System.
The geologist will use a Photoionization Detector (PID) to screen the soil samples in the field
for the presence of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and to select soil samples for
laboratory analyses,
Task 3: Laboratory Analyses
Up to four (4) soil samples will be collected from each of the borings and submitted to a
laboratory for analyses. The soil samples will be analyzed for the gasoline fraction of total
petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH-G) or (TPH-D) using California OHS method for TPH (8015
modified). Benzene, toluene, erbylbenzene, and total xylenes (BTEX) and MTBE will be
analyzed via EPA Method No. 8020- IN addition, the soil samples will be analyzed for TRPH
using EPA Method No. 4 18. 1
3
XW-
