Box 2003 <br />Simsbury, CT 06070-2003 <br />Dear Mr. Hart, <br />PETE WILSON, Governor <br />VEEDER-ROOT TLS SERIES 300/400 MONITORING SYSTEMS WITH CSLD VERSION <br />8473 (MAGNETOSTRICTIVE PROBE) <br />This letter is written in response to your request for provisional use of CSLD in California. <br />You have proposed use of CSLD subject to the same conditions as for the manual inventory <br />reconciliation, while it is being recertified for the 0.2 gph leak detection capability. <br />Based on the existingthird-party certification reports (October 30, 1992 and September 15, <br />1993) and other documents (November 11, 1994 MRI letter) submitted to this office we are <br />provisionally authorizing use of the CSLD system under Section 2643(b)(4) of the California <br />Underground Storage Tank Regulations. <br />This authorization is based on the mutual understanding of the following conditions: <br />1. Once the revised protocol for evaluation of continuous automatic leak detection <br />systems is finalized and accepted by this office, Veeder-Root will pursue <br />recertification of the CSLD system under the accepted protocol for the 0.2 gph <br />leak detection capability. <br />2. Under this provisional authorization, CSLD system can only be used for <br />monitoring tanks at sites where the existing or highest anticipated <br />groundwater level is more than 20 feet from the bottom of the tank. An <br />annual tank tightness test is also required, as is with the manual inventory <br />reconciliation option. <br />3. A copy of this letter must be provided to the local agency to obtain approval <br />prior to use of the CSLD (subject to the conditions stated above) for <br />monitoring single -walled tanks. <br />4. The use of CSLD system is limited to tank systems (singler manifolded) with <br />the total combined capacity of up to 30,000 gallons and maximum combined <br />0 0 <br />
