The products have su-
perior resistance to foaming, exhibit
good demulsibility, and provide pro-
tection against corrosion.
The advanced additive technology in
Mobil Pegasus 80 and 80 Super is a
medium -ash level which exhibits
high -ash performance characteris-
tics. Mobil Pegasus 80 Series, there-
fore, offers outstanding varve face
and seat protection, optimized engine
cleanliness, and control of deposit
formation. The additive system also
provides protection against piston
scuffing, scoring, and cylinder wear.
Application
Mobil Pegasus 80 is designed to
provide the highest level of perfor-
mance and protection in Caterpillar,
Superior, Waukesha, and other tur-
bocharged and naturally aspirated,
medium- to high-speed, four-cycle
gas engines requiring a medium -ash -
level product. It minimizes ash de-
posits in cooler -combustion,
lean -burn engines and in stoichio-
metric engines showing higher levels
of oil consumption. With its low lev-
els of zinc and phosphorus, Mobil
Pegasus 80 also can be used in en-
gines equipped with catalytic convert-
ers requiring medium ash oils.
Mobil Pegasus 80 can be used in gas
engines when alternate energy
sources for fuel gas contain low lev-
els of chlorine and sulfur compounds.
When sour gas is used as en.
JW
fuel, a gas engine lubricant with high-
er reserve alkalinity may be required.
Consult your Mobil technical repre-
sentative for additional information
on lubricant selection and oil -change
frequencies.
Mobil Pegasus 80 Super can be
used in all the applications described
for Mobil Pegasus 80. It is properly
applied in four-cycle, medium- and
high-speed engines which must start
in cold environments. Where superior
high-temperature performance must
be combined with excellent low-tem-
perature oil flow, Mobil Pegasus 80
Super is the best choice for long en-
gine life.
Advantages
When used as recommended, Mobil
Pegasus 80 Series gas engine oils
provide the following advantages and
benefits:
— Excellent valve guide face and
seat protection
— Maximum protection against pis-
ton scuffing, scoring, and cylin-
der liner wear
— Improved engine cleanliness
— Minimum ash deposits in lean -
burn and high -oil -consumption
gas engines
— Excellent foam and corrosion re-
sistance
— Excellent TBN retention
— Excellent resistance to oxidation
and nitration
— Excellent wide -temperature per-
formance with Mobil Pegasus 80
Super
•
PDS 1-70
Mobil Pegasus 80
Mobil Pegasus 80
Super
Product Number
60677-4
60574-1
SAE Number
40
15W-40
Gravity, API
28.0
30.5
Color, ASTM D 1500
5.0
3.0
Pour Point, OC(OF), max
-15(+5)
-40(-40)
Flash Point, OC(OF), min
238 (460)
218 (425)
Viscosity, cSt at 400C
cSt at 100OC
SUS at 100OF
SUS at 210'F
121
13
630
72
111
14.7
575
80
Viscosity Index, min
95
137
Sulfated Ash, wt %
0.48
0.48
TBN, ASTM D 2896
5.3
5.5
CCR, wt % (base stock only)
.04
0.04
•
PDS 1-70
