(b) By December 22, 2998, all underground piping containing motor vehicle fuel and <br />connected to an existing tank shall be retrofitted with secondary containment unless the <br />owner or operator demonstrates to the local agency that the piping is constructed of <br />fiberglass reinforced plastic, cathodically protected steel, or other materials compatible <br />with stored products and resistant to corrosion. The secondary containment system shall <br />meet the construction, installation, and monitoring requirements of section 2636. <br />(c) By December 22, 2998, all automatic line leak detectors for underground pressurized <br />piping which is not secondarily contained shall be capable of shutting off the pump when <br />release occurs. In addition, the pumping system shall shut down automatically if the <br />automatic line leak detector fails or is disconnected.
