EXAMPLE <br />SITE SPECIFIC <br />HEALTH AND SAFETY PLAN <br />1.0 INTRODUCTION <br />This Health and Safety plan applies to the remediation <br />activities of Scrivner Environmental Services, to be carried <br />out at the San Joaquin General Hospital (SJGH), French Camp, <br />California. The plan is based upon existing information <br />regarding the site and upon past experience at other sites. <br />This document describes the specific safety procedures to be <br />utilized for all on site personnel involved in the activity. <br />The plan presents a realistic approach to the anticipated <br />hazards at the site. It is expected that site conditions may <br />vary throughout the duration of the project. As actual site <br />conditions change, parts of the plan may be upgraded or <br />downgraded as conditions warrant. All changes in the health <br />and safety measures specified must be approved by the Health <br />and Safety Officer. Such changes will be conveyed to all on <br />site employees. <br />All visitors and regulatory personnel are expected to be <br />familiar with, and comply with all aspects of this plan. Any <br />individuals who fail to comply with on site protection levels <br />or other provisions of the plan will be excluded from all <br />active work areas/exclusion zones, as deemed appropriate by <br />the Health and Safety Officer or other on site management <br />representatives. <br />All protective equipment necessary for on site employees will <br />be provided. All regulatory personnel and visitors brought <br />on site by regulatory personnel, are expected to provide <br />their own protective equipment which equals or exceeds that <br />required by this plan. <br />The information presented in this plan will be reviewed with <br />the employees during the site specific training. A copy of <br />this plan will. be available at all times on the site. <br />The tasks to be performed on the SJGH project include street <br />barricading, sawcutting existing pavement; excavation of one <br />(1) steel underground fuel storage tank and associated <br />piping; removal of tank and piping for offsite disposal. <br />Project also involves backfill of the excavation; and <br />repaving. <br />Hazards associated with the project include roadway traffic <br />hazards; operation of heavy equipment; open pit hazards; <br />volatile organic emissions and hazards associated with <br />
