Excellent flow characteristics
The superior flow characteristics of
fiberglass pipe are now more
important than ever because of the
high pressure drop through today's
multiple product dispensers. Unlike
thermoplastic hoses, Ameron
Dualoy 3000/L has no inner corru-
gations to create turbulence and
excessive pressure drop. With its
smooth interior, Dualoy 3000/1,
maintains a high Hazen -Williams
coefficient of 150 throughout its
service life for consistently low
pressure drop.
Easy to transport and handle
The light weight of fiberglass makes
Dualoy 3000/L easier to transport
and handle than steel. A typical
service station requires from 800 to
1000 feet of piping. For 2 -inch steel
pipe, that's about 13/4 tons — a hefty
truckload. The same footage of
Dualoy 3000/L weighs less than
500 pounds and can easily be
carried on a light pickup. One
person can unload enough
Dualoy 3000/L for a whole
service station job quickly, by
hand, without a forklift.
Rapid end preparation
End preparation is a large part of
overall job cost. Dualoy 3000/1,
primary pipe arrives at the jobsite
with the ends factory tapered.
Fiberglass pipe and nipples can be
cut to length in less than 10 seconds,
and the cut ends tapered in less than
20 using a portable tapering tool for
on-site joint preparation.
Convenience and proven reliability
in a jointed system
All jointed piping is not the same.
The vast majority of failures in
jointed piping start at the threads in
steel systems: threading strips off
the protective galvanization and
exposes the bare metal. By contrast,
Dualoy pipe is constructed of inert
materials throughout, so tapering
the end does not compromise its
corrosion resistance. Thus,
Dualoy 3000/L systems combine the
convenient layout of a jointed
system and the unmatched, proven
reliability of fiberglass piping.
A worker easily carries 100 feet of2-inch Dualoy 3000/L primary pipe during a service station
rehabilitation. The same length of 2 -inch steel pipe would weigh over 350 pounds.
Dualoy 3000/L pipe can be cut to length using an ordinary hacksaw. The cut ends of the pipe are
then tapered with a portable tapering machine. Both cutting and tapering can be accomplished
without even getting out of the trench.
