Ll
11
U.S. Industrial Products Co. is pleased to present our tank monitoring equipment,
designed to detect gasoline, diesel, automotive waste oil and water in under-
ground tanks. This leak detection system will continuously monitor any potential
leak problem associated with underground storage tanks and product lines. It
can be used to monitor existing tanks as well as new double wall tanks with
annulus space. (See Figure 1. and 2.)
U.S. Industrial Products will provide a state of the art solid state sensor. The
system has a U.S. patent and is also UL approved. The USI hydrocarbons vapor
sensor has a constant low temperature which is intrinsically safe. In addition, the
sensor can detect gasoline, diesel and automotive waste oil to 1 ppm (parts per
million). The sensor is stable and poison resistant to sulfur, lead and halogenated
compounds. Therefore, the gas sensor has a life expectancy of more than ten
years. USI will offer a three year warranty for the gas sensor. The water (Liquid)
sensor is made from Teflon and stainless steel. It is of the conductivity type and
has a life expectancy of more than twenty years.
The gasoline sensor is an adsorption -desorption type. The principle of detection
depends on gasoline vapor adsorption on the active catalyst surface at a preset
temperature. The gas adsorption causes a resistance change between two
electrodes embedded in the catalyst element. The resistance change depends on
the type of gas -solid interaction and the temperature employed. This change will
give a signal which is sent to the input of the operational amplifier. The output of
the operational amplifier controls the meter display and alarm functions. The
sensing element is inside the sensor head together with standard porous metal
filter discs, serving as a flame arrestor.
THE SYSTEM
The U.S. Industrial Products' hydrocarbons vapor/water leak detector is designed
to detect and distinguish any leakage from gasoline, diesel as well as automotive
waste oil and liquid water. This capability comes from our hydrocarbon vapors
sensor which has no interference effect from water vapor and our liquid water
sensor which will not be interfered by hydrocarbons liquid. For the double -layers
tank annulus space monitoring, we will provide both hydrocarbon vapor and
liquid water sensors. For existing storage tanks monitoring, we will provide only
hydrocarbon vapor sensor.
I
