The Project Manager is responsible for generating, organizing, the SSHP which describes all <br />planned field activities and potential hazards that may be encountered at the site. The PM is also <br />responsible for assuring that adequate training and safety briefings for the project are provided to <br />the project team. Copies will be available to other contractors prior to the start of field activities. <br />The site Health and Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that all data acquisition is performed <br />in accordance with the work plan and SSHP. <br />The Safety Officer's responsibilities include: <br />1. Following the SSHP <br />2. Reporting to the PM any unsafe conditions or practices. <br />3.Reporting to the PM all facts pertaining to incidents which result in injury. <br />4. Reporting to the PM safety equipment malfunctions or deficiencies. <br />5. Providing site safety briefings on a daily basis. <br />6. Inspecting all personal protective equipment prior to on-site use. <br />7. Enforcing the "Buddy System" as appropriate for site activities. <br />8. Posting the telephone numbers of local emergency services. <br />9. Posting location and route to the nearest medical facility and arranging transportation. <br />10. Stopping operations that threaten the health and safety of the field team Of surrounding <br />populace. <br />11. Entering the Exclusion Area in Emergencies after he notified emergency services. <br />12. Observing field team members for sings of exposure, stress, or their conditions related to pre- <br />existing physical conditions or site work activities of the team members. <br />
