This plan check is not to be construed as an approval for any code items not noted, or commented on. It is <br />the contractors responsibility to conform to the provisions of all relevant laws, codes, ordinances, rules and <br />regulations. Work shall not commence without approved plans unless specifically allowed by the Fire Marshal. All <br />inspections require the "APPROVED" job copy and job card to be available on the job site. <br />California Fire Code Title 24, Part 9: Matters not provided for. Requirements that are essential for the public <br />safety of an existing or proposed activity, building or structure, or for the safety of the occupants thereof, which are not <br />specifically provided for by this code shall be determined by the fire code official. <br />Inspections — Unless unusual circumstances arise, the developer shall provide at least twenty-four hours notice to <br />the Fire Department to arrange an inspection. Inspection requests may be made by calling the telephone number <br />listed above and scheduling either an A.M. inspection (9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) or a P.M. inspection (1:30 p.m. to 4:00 <br />P.M.). <br />Additional Fire Inspection Feels) — Additional fee(s) will be imposed for any additional fire inspections that are <br />requested. <br />1. Labeling of Piping — All pipes containing hazardous liquids, regardless of the nature of the material, must be labeled <br />every 20 feet with the name of the pipe's contents and with an arrow indicating direction of flow. This requiremeril <br />applies to all aboveground pipes in accessible trenches. <br />2. Piping Compatibility — Piping, tubing, valves, fittings and related components shall be designed and fabricated <br />from materials compatible with the material to be contained. <br />3. Piping Pressure Tests — It shall be demonstrated that piping being used to convey hazardous liquids is of adequatz <br />strength and durability to withstand the pressure under which the piping will be subjected. This test shall be maintainef <br />for a sufficient time period to complete the visual inspection of the joints and connections; OR, it shall be testef <br />according to manufacture guidelines. Contact the Fire Marshal's Office to schedule verification inspections for ft-� <br />pressure test. <br />4. Placarding — Due to the amount of hazardous materials being contained within the proposed tanks, hazard placards <br />shall be provided for each tank. Review of the California Fire Code and NFPA 704 Standards are necessary references <br />to determine the correct numbering for each NFPA 704 placard. <br />5. Maintenance Practices for Flammable/Combustible Liquids - Maintenance and operating practices shall be in <br />accordance with established procedures which will tend to control leakage and unauthorized discharge of flammable or <br />combustible liquids.
