PLC-5000 Site Controller, LD-2000 and LD-2000 PLC
6.0 Test Results and Discussion
Testing was conducted according to the test matrix provided in the EPA protocol.' The
results of the evaluation are summarized in Table 2. Tables 3 and 4 summarizes the
product temperature conditions used in the evaluation for the Monthly/Annual tests and
for the Hourly tests. Tables 5, 6, and 7 summarize the tests results and leak rates for
the Monthly/Annual tests, Hourly tests, and trapped vapor tests. The official EPA
certification and description forms have been provided in Attachment A.
The data was analyzed statistically using the procedures specified in the EPA test
protocol in Section 7.4 for systems that do not report a leak rate. The probabilities of
detection and false alarms were calculated for leaks of 0.1 gal/hr for Monthly Monitoring
and Annual Line Tightness Testing and 3.0 gal/h for Hourly Testing.
Threshold
The system was evaluated in the Monthly/Annual mode with a threshold set by the
manufacturer at 0.068 gal/h for detecting 0.1 gal/h leaks. The threshold for Hourly
Testing for 3.0 gal/h leaks is 2.5 gal/h.
The commercial version of the system will provide Monthly Monitoring for 0.2 gal/h
leaks using a threshold at 0.136 gal/h. However, Monthly Monitoring for 0.2 gal/h leaks
was not tested by KWA, Inc. Tests with leak rates of 0.1 gal/h were simulated and were
detected by the system when the threshold was set at 0.068 gal/h. The system
correctly identified 100% of the 0.1 gal/h leak simulations and it is therefore assumed
that the system will correctly identify 0.2 gal/h leaks using a threshold of 0.136 gal/h.
Calculation of PFn and Pp
The Vaporless system was evaluated as a pass/fail system and pass or fail is printed
on the tests reports. Additionally, when a leak rate exceeds the threshold, the leak rate
in gal/h is printed on the test report. The system was evaluated in the Monthly/Annual
mode with a threshold set by the manufacturer at 0.068 gal/h for detecting 0.1 gal/h
leaks.
The commercial version of the system will provide Monthly Monitoring for 0.2 gal/h
leaks using a threshold at 0.136 gal/h.
