ALSO, a release to the
environment (pavement, soil, air, water) requires immediate attention by the Environmental Protection Department
(EPD) to prevent migration, to start cleanup, and to notify others. EPD will confer with the operator to determine a
course of action. Basic actions: Released fuel will be pumped into containers and/or absorbed into absorbent.
Contaminated soil and gravel will be removed.
2. Describe the proposed methods and equipment to be used for removing and properly disposing of any hazardous
substances.
Method: Absorb or pump out fuel as appropriate; remove contaminated soil if necessary. Waste materials will be
managed in accordance with regulatory requirements through the Radioactive and Hazardous Waste Management
(RHWM) Division.
Equipment: Absorbent, brooms, non -sparking shovels, electric drum pumps and other portable pumps, a mobile spill
kit, polyethylene bags, 55 -gallon drums, vacuum tankers, portable tanks, barricade equipment, personal protective
equipment, eyewash, ABC fire extinguishers, pickup trucks, a spill response trailer, dump truck, back hoe, and plastic
sheeting.
3.
