L] 9 April 10, 2009 Lawrence Liverare National Laboratory Public Notification - Permit Modifications for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Site 300 RCRA Hazardous Waste Facility Post -Closure Permit Corral Hollow Road - Tracy, CA 95376 EPA ID No. CA2890090002 You are receiving this notification because your name or the name of your organization is on the Department of Toxic Substances Control's (DTSC) mailing list for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) Site 300. We are required by the California hazardous waste regulations to notify you when modifications are made to our Permit. On April 28, 2008, LLNL Site 300, located at Corral Hollow Road, Tracy, California, submitted Class 1 modification requests to the DTSC to modify its Hazardous Waste Facility Post -Closure Permit (Permit). LLNL Site 300 is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and is jointly operated by US DOE and its contractor, LLNL. The Permit was issued by DTSC to LLNL Site 300 so that they can implement the requirements for groundwater monitoring and maintenance of the RCRA-closed Building 829. The permit modifications submitted to DTSC are listed as follows: 1. Added turbidity to the list of constituents of concern (COC) for groundwater 2. Modified the Post -Closure Plan to allow adjustments to the concentration limit (CL) and statistical limit (SL) values through annual reports submitted to DTSC. 3. Modified Table 7-2 of the Post -Closure Permit to include the values for concentration limit (CL) and statistical limit (SL) for well W-829-1938 because sufficient data is now available to calculate them. 4. Updated the reporting limits (RL) in Table 7-2 of the Post -Closure Permit to match those of the analytical laboratories. 5. Updated the Monitoring Well Inspection Checklist by adding the following information: Repairs needed, Nature of repair, Date repair completed, Completed by (name), Inspection date and time, Inspector name and signature. DTSC acknowledged that the above requested modifications are Class 1, which does not require DTSC's approval.
