LLi Lawrence Livera re National Laboratory April 10, 2009 Public Notification - Permit Modifications for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Site 300 Hazardous Waste Facility Permit Corral Hollow Road - Tracy, CA 95376 EPA ID No. CA2890090002 You are receiving this notification because your name or the name of your organization is on the Department of Toxic Substances Control's (DTSC) mailing list for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) Site 300. We are required by the California hazardous waste regulations to notify you when modifications are made to our Hazardous Waste Facility Permit (Permit). Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) Site 300, located at Corral Hollow Road, Tracy, California, is owned by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and is jointly operated by US DOE and its contractor, LLNL. On October 1, 2008, LLNL submitted Class 1 modification requests to the DTSC to modify its Permit. The Permit was issued by DTSC for continued hazardous and explosive waste management operations at LLNL Site 300. The permit modifications submitted to DTSC updates the training practices for field technicians. The modifications involved the change in name and course number and the delivery method of the training as follows: 1. Changed the "Basic Respirator Training - HS4610" to "Basic Air Purifying Respirator Training — HS4610-W. The "W" denotes web -based training. 2. Changed the "Air Purifying Respirator — HS4611" to "Basic Air Purifying Respirator Training Fit Test — HS4610-P. The "P" denotes practical respirator fit testing. 3. Changed the Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SOBA) — "HS4630" to "HS4630-W. The "W" denotes web -based training. 4. As a result of electronic training methods (i.e., web -based, computer-based, or by other digital methods), the length of training by electronic methods became variable. DTSC acknowledged that the above requested modifications are Class 1, which does not require DTSC's approval.
