The underground fuel storage tanks located at Site 300
are monitored according to the provisions of Alternative 5 (Title 23, CCR,
Sections 2641 [c][51). The two tanks subject to Alternative 5 are designated by
tank number 879-G1U1 and 879-G2U1. Both tanks are used to supply gasoline
to Laboratory vehicles only.
For the first quarter, 1991, there were five variations that exceeded the
allowable limits for tank 879-G2U1 (refer to Table 1). The cause of the
variations was the inaccuracy of the volume of the fuel delivered against the
volume of the fuel recorded in the receipt. For unknown reasons, the
variation that occurred on January 3, 1991, affected the inventory
reconciliation of January 4, 1991, but it was within allowable limits by January
5, 1991. The day after the occurrence of the other variations, tank 879-G2U1
was within allowable limits.
Enclosed is an Inventory Reconciliation Quarterly Summary Report Form for
your records. Also included is Table 1 which provides more detailed
information that cannot be readily accommodated on the standard Summary
Report Form.
An Equal Opportunity Employer-University of Califomia-P.O.Box 808 Livermore,California 94550•Telephone(415)422-1100-Twx 910-386-8339 UCLLL LVMR
