Our Return to
Compliance Certificate is enclosed. Kaiser has addressed the issue with the Underground Storage Tank
System at the Stockton Medical Center as follows:
Item 317: Illegally Abandoned UST System
In a face to face meeting on January 13, 2011 with the San Joaquin County Inspector Garrett
Backuss and Kasey Foley, Program Coordinator, it was proposed that rather than remove the UST
system, that we would replace our boiler with a more efficient dual fuel model. The new model would use
natural gas and the diesel backup fuel in case of an interruption of the natural gas supply. In addition, on
the same day, January 13, 2011, both Garrett and Kasey visited the Stockton Medical Center to view the
existing boiler lines. The county officials responded favorably and will confirm if they will require additional
monitoring systems to be installed. This will resolve the abandonment notice of violation; give the facility
additional emergency capacity and a more efficient piece of equipment.Within the next 90 days Kaiser
Permanente will contact both the San Joaquin County and the City of Stockton to obtain required permits
to start the boiler construction project. A certified ICC consultant and contractor will be used for the design
and construction of this project.
Thank You,
dft Bassi
Support Services Leader—San Joaquin County
Kaiser Permanente
Stockton Medical Office Manteca Medical Center Tracy Medical Offices Modesto Medical Offices
7373 West Lane,Stockton,CA 95210 1777 W.Yosemite Avenue,Manteca,CA 95337 2185 W.Grant Line Road,Tracy,CA 95377 Post Office Box 577680,Modesto,CA 95357
