• Double Wall Tank Monitoring Because of its superior leak detection capability, Fluid Containment recommends the Hydrostatic Tank Monitor. However, the tank owner and/or operator is responsible for selection of monitoring system. B1. Alternate Tank Monitoring Systems • A variety of leak monitoring systems can be used with Fluid Containment double-wall tanks. • Alternate tank monitoring sensor must be located at the monitoring fitting on top of tank. 4" Monitoring Fitting Fiberglass Reservoir" & 4" Hydrostatic Monitoring Fitting *Tank Model DWT -Type II Only Restrictions on Monitoring Capabilities (All Fluid Containment Double -Wall Tanks) • For liquid sensors and gasoline vapor sensors: ❑ Cavity between the inner and outer tank may be ei- ther vented to the atmosphere or sealed. Restrictions on Monitoring Capabilities (Type II Tanks Only) • For Hydrostatic Tank Monitor: ❑ Tank burial depth must not exceed 7' from tank top to finish grade. ❑ Monitoring cavity between the inner and outer tank must be vented to the atmosphere. If unvented, pressure buildup can cause tank dam- age. ❑ Optional reservoir sensor (supplied by Fluid Con- tainment) senses liquid level in reservoir and auto- matically vents monitoring cavity. • For Vacuum Monitoring: ❑ Maximum vacuum is 5 psi. • For Positive Air Pressure Monitoring: • ❑ Maximum air pressure is 5 psi. B2. Installation of Liquid or Vapor Sensors • Consult monitoring equipment manufacturer for proper installation. • When liquid or vapor sensors are used, the tank may be sloped at time of installation. • If tank is sloped, place tank so that the lowest elevation is at monitoring end. • Use an electrician's wire puller to position sensor at or near bottom of tank. Most sensors can be installed from finished grade. Important: For ease of installation insert the sensor in the tank cavity before installing the monitoring riser pipe to grade. Note: Fluid Containment recommends minimum 4" riser to grade for ease of removal or replacement of sensor.
