North America Job Hazard Analysis <br /> R " ' Natural Hazards <br /> ERM <br /> Project Name: John Deere Landscapes(Former LESCO Facility) <br /> Project Number: 0129740 <br /> Job/Task Name: Natural Hazards <br /> JHA No.: 10 <br /> Task Step Hazard Control Measures <br /> Working around poisonous Danger to health from bites,stings,and/or disease Liberally use insect repellant containing DEET at all times on <br /> insects transmission the jobsite. Periodically throughout the day and at the end of <br /> the day,perform a thorough"tick-check'to ensure ticks or <br /> other insects are found and removed promptly. <br /> Avoid obvious conical mounds of dirt that may indicate ants, <br /> wasps,or other flying insects. <br /> Before reaching into dark or damp spaces such as monitoring <br /> well-heads,inspect the area thoroughly to ensure spiders are <br /> not present. <br /> Always take a shower as soon as possible after leaving a <br /> 'obsite for the day to remove any insects,such as chigRers. <br /> Working around snakes Snake bites and potential poisoning Visually inspect the work are prior to beginning any work to <br /> located areas with high grass and underbrush. Do not walk <br /> through these areas if at all possible to avoid snakes. Wear <br /> leather steel-toe boots and snake chaps in areas where snakes <br /> are suspected or confirmed to be present. Do not attempt to <br /> kill snakes,as people are commonly bitten attempting this. • <br /> Working around feral animals Animal bites and possible transmission of disease High rat populations within an enclosed space present a <br /> hazard of Hanta virus. Spray such areas with bleach solution <br /> prior to performing any work in the area(10 parts water to 1 <br /> part household bleach). <br /> Feral dogs may become aggressive,especially if guarding <br /> their young or if they become very hungry.
