Prior to conducting fieldwork. <br /> site-specific hazards related to this task must be incorporated by the project team. Once completed,the JHA <br /> should be reviewed regularly with site personnel who will be performing this task. <br /> Task Description: <br /> Guidelines for working with portable hand and power tools. <br /> Hazard Analysis: <br /> Task Step Hazard Control Measures <br /> Gather tools to take to jobsite An improper tool available at jobsites encourages Ensure tools taken to jobsites are kept in optimal condition <br /> unsafe behaviors and could lead to injury. (sharp,clean,oiled,etc.) to ensure efficient operation. Tools <br /> must only be used for their intended purposes-tools should <br /> not be used as pry-bars. Ensure power cords attached to <br /> powered-equipment are not damaged. <br /> Any damaged tool or electrical cord must be tagged and taken <br /> out of service. <br /> Using cutting tools Major and/or minor cuts to personnel Fixed open-blade knives(such as pocket knives)may not be <br /> used on ERM jobsites,with few exceptions. If their use is <br /> required,cut-resistant gloves must be worn while using them <br /> and the PM or FSO must be informed prior to their use. <br /> Employees performing significant amounts of cutting tool use <br /> should must high-visibility gloves to encourage awareness of <br /> where hands are being laced. <br /> ERM North America 1 Form Rev.:05-08 <br />
