Hwy 12 RO# 113
Lodi, CA. 95242 CUF#: 18115
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) has reviewed
Additional Monitoring Well Installation Work Plan submitted by Advanced
GeoEnvironmental Inc (AGE) and has the following comments.
The proposal was prepared in response to EHD requirements to continue to
investigate the lateral and vertical extents of the petroleum plume that resulted
from the unauthorized release from the underground storage tanks (UST)
formerly located at the above referenced site.
Increasing dissolved petroleum concentrations have been noted in ground water
samples from existing monitoring well "MW-3" located down gradient from the
former USTs.
In this work plan, AGE proposes installing two pilot soil borings (MW-5 and MW-
6) onsite and constructing a 2-inch PVC monitoring well in each boring. MW-5 is
to be installed 35 feet northeast (down gradient) of MW-3 for the lateral
delineation investigation at the first ground water interface 25 feet below ground
surface ('bgs). MW-6 is proposed in the former UST/core area for the vertical
delineation investigation and is to be installed in the deeper zone, 50 feet to 60
feet bgs.
Soil samples will be collected at 5-foot intervals and selected samples will be
analyzed by EPA Method 8015m for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline
and diesel (TPH-g and TPH-d) and EPA Method 82608 will be used for fuel
oxygenates, aromatics, and lead scavengers.
EHD is concerned that the interval between the current monitoring well screened
zones (5' bgs to 25' bgs) and the proposed new MW-6 screened interval (50' bgs
to 60' bgs) will not be represented by a separate screened interval. In order to
address these concerns, EHD will require the following conditions to be added to
the work plan.
