11 February 2005 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 00-0696 <br /> Page 4 of 7 <br /> was transferred into three laboratory-supplied, 40-milliliter (ml) volatile organic analysis (VOA) <br /> vials containing 0 5 ml 18% hydrochloric acid solution as a sample preservative, and one 1-liter <br /> amber bottle without preservative After collection, the samples were properly labeled, placed in a <br /> chilled container, and transported under chain of custody to CTEL for analysis The samples were <br /> analyzed for <br /> • TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015M, and <br /> • BTEX and fuel oxygenates DIPS, ETBE, MTBE, TAME, TBA, 1,2-DCA, and EDB in <br /> accordance with EPA Method 8260B <br /> 3.0. FINDINGS <br /> Soil stratigraphy and ground water elevation,flow direction,and gradient were determined from field <br /> data The contaminant impact to soil and ground water was quantified from laboratory analysis <br /> 3 1 STRATIGRAPHY <br /> In general, moist, black peat and silty peat were encountered in borings MWI. and MW2 from <br /> Isurface grade to approximately 5 feet bsg in boring MW 1,and from surface grade to approximately <br /> 9 5 feet bsg in boring MW2 Some hydrocarbon staining occurred in the peat in boring MW2 Black <br /> I fill dirt was encountered in boring MW3 from surface grade to approximately 5 feet bsg, and moist <br /> to saturated, blue gray, silty clay, sandy clay, and clayey silt was encountered in boring MW4 from <br /> surface grade to approximately 15 feet bsg,underlain by very moist to saturated,gray brown to blue <br /> gray silty sand and sandy silt that extended to total depth From 10 feet bsg to the total depths of <br /> borings MW 1 through MW3, interbedded layers of moist to saturated, orange brown, brown, and <br /> green brown sandy silt, silty sand, silty clay, clayey silt, and clay were encountered A geological <br /> cross-section is illustrated on Figure 3 Boring logs are provided in Appendix B <br /> 32 ANALYTICAL RESULTS OF SOIL SAMPLES <br /> A total of sixteen soil samples were analyzed for the constituents listed in section 2 1 1 <br /> ETPH-g was detected in the soil sample collected from boring MW3 at 10 feet and 15 feet bsg <br /> (MW3-10 and MW3-15,respectively)at concentrations of 5 2 milligrams per kilogram(mg/kg)and <br /> 1 5 mg/kg, respectively <br /> IAdvanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br />
