STATE OF CALIFORNIA GEORGE DEUKMFJIAN, Governor
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT
Housing Policy Development
Division
1800 Third Street, Room 430
P.O. Box 952053
Sacramento, CA 94252-2053
(916) 323-3176
r)
April 12, 1989
Mr. Harry Islas
San Joaquin County Planning Division
1810 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95205
Dear Mr. Islas:
Re: Mobilehomes for Farmworkers A Special Use on A-40
Parcels
As we discussed in our April 5, 1989 phone conversation, the
Department is concerned that the County may not have a policy to
conserve affordable farmworker housing when change of use of A-40
land effects only a few farmworker units. We suggest that the
County develop a strategy to conserve these farmworker units. For
example, the County could develop incentives which would encourage
the property owner to allow the units to remain in place; use
available housing funds to help eligible farmworkers relocate; or
encourage the mobilehome owner to relocate the units and tenants.
Thank you for your consideration. If you have any questions
concerning our comments, please feel free to contact me at (916)
323-3185.
Sincerely,
"
Camilla Cleary 7
Housing Policy Analyst
cc: Chet Davisson, Planning Director
