1 <br />' Closure Report May 21 1993 <br /> p Y <br /> Southland Site No 20680, 9110 Thornton Road, Stockton, CA 10 <br /> 5.2 Analytical Results for Groundwater <br /> rThe analytical results of groundwater samples collected from the groundwater monitoring wells since <br /> October 1990 have documented the decrease of petroleum hydrocarbons in the groundwater <br /> beneath the site Analytical results of recent groundwater samples collected on December 23, 1992 <br /> and April 2, 1993, reported BTEX and TPH-G concentrations below Caldomia action levels <br />' Analytical results of water samples collected from the domestic wells on December 23, 1992 and <br /> April 2, 1993, reported BTEX and TPH-G concentrations below MDLs Concentrations of BTEX and <br />' TPH-G have not been detected above the California action levels in the domestic wells since 1989 <br /> and in the groundwater monitoring wells since 1990 with the exception of well MW-18 A benzene <br /> concentration of 1 ppb was reported in the groundwater sample collected from this well on June 29, <br /> 1992 <br /> 6.0 RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> Based on the sod and groundwater data collected during the implementation of activities described <br /> In Groundwater Technology's Site Qlggure Work Plan, dated March 1991, and in the Proposal for <br /> Site-Cleanup Confirmation, dated July 7, 1992, and on the historical data presented in this report, <br /> Groundwater Technology, on behalf of The Southland Corporation, requests that the SJPHS forward <br /> a copy of this report to the California RWQCB, Central Valley Region, with recommendations for <br /> closure <br /> As of July 1, 1993 groundwater monitoring and sampling activities and domestic well sampling will <br /> be discontinued Well abandonment will be implemented when site closure or a no-further-action <br /> Idecision has been granted by the SJPHS and RWQCB <br /> 7.0 LIMITATIONS <br /> Ten borings were originally proposed for closure investigation at this site However, the proposed <br /> Ilocation for Boring H was too close to a fence and to a ditch filled with water, making the selected <br /> location impractical Michael Infuma of the SJPHS and a representative from Groundwater <br /> ITechnology agreed that Boring H could be omitted from the closure investigation because a <br /> 1211 RO13 <br /> GROUNDWATER <br /> TECHNOLOGY, INC <br />
