'a i <br /> t <br /> F <br /> FLUOR DANIEL GTI <br /> 47 <br /> December 17, 1996 <br /> Mr Bob DeNtnno <br /> The Southland Corporation <br /> 19033 West Valley Highway, D-104 <br /> Kent, Washingtcn 98032 <br /> Subject Summary of Well Destruction <br /> Southland Store No 20680 <br /> 9110 Thornton Road <br /> Stockton, California <br /> Fluor Daniel GTI Project 02070 0230 <br /> Dear Mr DeNtnno <br /> Fluor Daniel GTI, Inc submits this letter to summarize well destruction activities conducted on November 4 <br /> through 15, 1996 at the subject site The work scope included destroying 11 on-site groundwater <br /> monitoring wells, four vapor extraction wells, two groundwater extraction wells, and 14 off-site groundwater <br /> monitoring wells (Figures 1 and 2,Attachment 1) The work was performed as described in Fluor Daniel <br /> GTI's Work Plan for Groundwater Monitoring Well Abandonment, dated July 19, 1996 All work was <br />.� conducted in accordance with State of California Water Well Standards, Bulletin 74-90, Section 16 for <br /> destruction of monitoring wells, and in accordance with San Joaquin County Public Health Services, <br /> Environmental Health Division (SJCPHS-EHD) requirements <br /> The wells were destroyed following the SJCPHS granting no-further-action status related to the <br /> underground storage tank release at the site A formal closure letter from the SJCPHS, dated <br /> December 3, 1996, confirmed the completion of site investigation and remedial action at the site Well <br /> destruction permits are included as Attachment 2 <br /> Well Destruction <br /> On November 4 through 15, 1996, Fluor Daniel GTI personnel supervised the destruction of all 31 <br /> site-related monitoring wells, including 25 groundwater monitoring wells, 4 vapor extraction wells, and 2 <br /> groundwater extraction wells Prior to destruction, depth to water and total depth was gauged in each well <br /> Depth to water during well destruction activities at the site ranged from approximately 37 to 39 feet below <br /> the top of each well casing All well boxes, vaults, and associated concrete were removed from each welt <br /> location and temporarily stored in a roll-off bin <br /> The well casings from groundwater monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-4, MW-17A through MW-17C, and <br /> MW-20, and vapor extraction wells V-1 through V-4 located near the former tank pit and dispenser islands <br /> 023Uwdes sum(S1hl 6 1) <br /> 1401 Halyard Drive, Suite 140 /West Sacramento, CA 95691 USA (916) 372-4700 FAX (916) 372-8781 <br />
