1'
Ms. Linda Turkatte
Environmental Health Division
March 18, 1993
- The impacted soil does not appear to extend vertically beyond
approximately 15 feet below grade.
- Groundwater is documented to be present in the area at 50 to 60
feet below grade.
The subsurface soils beneath the impacted soil consist mainly of
relatively impermeable materials (silts).
- Analytical results indicated the presence of highly weathered,
relatively insoluble hydrocarbons. None of the more mobile and
soluble aromatic hydrocarbon constituents (BTEX) were detected.
The area is paved and beneath a building. Very little water may be
expected to come in contact with the impacted soil.
These considerations indicate the soil has low leaching potential and can be left
in place without threatening groundwater. Further excavation given the proximity to the
structure is also unfeasible.
We are now requesting formal closure at this site. Your consideration of this
request is greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions on the report, please contact Mr. Fred Tornatore of
Dufour Environmental Resource Management at (916)553-3111. Thank you for your
prompt attention to this matter.
Very truly yours,
PACIFIC COAST PRODUCERS
RON D.
