PACIFIC COAST f
PRODUCERS CANNING PLANT, 32 TOKAY, LODI, CALIFORNIA'
Dear Ms. Turkatte:
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for our meeting in your offices on July 1, 1992
and to inform you of Pacific Coast Producer's proposed next steps based on our discussions
r in that meeting. F "
During our meeting we discussed the;data obtained from the.April 1991 sampling episode
and how it was incorrectly reported in our July 1991 report. It appears that the soil
contamination of potential concern to San'Joaquin County is centered around the five (5),
foot depth as opposed to the originally reported 20 foot depth, and the locations of this _
contamination of concern are near the center and the eastern perimeter on the original tank ,
location, not the southern.,and_westerE p9rimeters,a :nreviously, xepnrted. vYon have
corrected version of Table 1 in your-possession. R r
We discussed the cleanup levels which would be imposed on this project in order for Pacific.
Coast Producers (PCP) to obtain "clean closure" for the tank removal and remediation of
contaminated soils. Based.on the data obtained so far regarding the soil contamination a
certification of clean closure would not be'possible without reducing the contaminants to the
County's cleanup level objectives. You conveyed the following cleanup1evels for the soil
at the site to be`protective of groundwaterat the subject site: Non-detectable for BTX&E
(currently 5 ppb), 10 ppm for gasoline; and 100 ppm for diesel. I assume that oil and grease k '
would have'the same cleanup level as diesel.
Although a majority of discussion during our meeting ;centered on our proposed plan to Y
conduct further investigation to characterize the site, you, did mention that our.'Original April
sampling and analysis could serve as a screening mechanism for the further work at the site.
819 F Street • Sacramerifo,CA'• 95814 (916)553-3111 • FAX;(916)553-'b250
C'
